Detailed itinerary
Your journey, step by step
Times and services are indicative. Your final schedule is confirmed in your written quote.
Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu
Arrival and the afternoon city tour, the Sacred Valley with the evening train to Aguas Calientes, then Machu Picchu and the return to Cusco, as in the Cusco & Machu Picchu packages.
Into the Amazon
Flight Cusco–Puerto Maldonado (about 55 min) · 1–2 h by boat · Overnight: jungle lodge · Meals: lunch, dinner A short flight takes you from the Andes down to the rainforest. From Puerto Maldonado you travel by motorboat along the river to your lodge in the Tambopata reserve. In the afternoon a naturalist guide leads a first jungle walk, and after dark you can join a night outing to spot caimans, frogs and insects.
Lakes, wildlife and the canopy
Full day of activities · Overnight: jungle lodge · Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner An early start for a canoe trip on a rainforest lake, looking for birds, monkeys and, with luck, giant river otters. Depending on the lodge, the day may include a canopy tower, a clay lick where macaws gather, or a medicinal plant walk (activities vary by lodge).
Back to Puerto Maldonado and your flight
Early activity · Boat and transfer · Meals: breakfast A last early-morning wildlife walk, then the boat back to Puerto Maldonado and your flight to Lima or Cusco.
